Terms & Conditions

1. Purchase of Coffins, Accessories and Other Services from Compare the Coffin

By making an order for Coffins and Funeral Accessories you are confirming that:

– The information you enter into the Compare the Coffin site is true and matches your needs (or the needs and requirements of the ‘Loved One’ or the Deceased )

– You know of no reason why the Products you are ordering are not suitable for your requirements; i.e. the physical size of a coffin

– You are aged 18 years or over;

– You consent to us contacting your chosen Funeral Director to ensure delivery details and, thereafter, the satisfactory condition of the product and timely delivery thereof.

– Compare the Coffin take no responsibility for the service you receive from Funeral Directors linked to our site, but using our unique feedback mechanism we will enable you to bring resolution to any issues you may have. Suppliers who regularly receive poor reviews will be removed from our service. (Please ensure you do your research – read reviews and feel free to contact the Funeral Directors themselves before making your selection.)

– If at any point you are not happy with the service provided by the first funeral director you have chosen please follow the process on the website to change your selection. (click here)

– Compare the Coffin takes no responsibility for the service provided or losses caused by Partners providing services via Comparethecoffin.com. Compare the Coffin has unique relationships with all our service partners and will endeavor to ensure you receive the highest level of service and value.

2. Pricing

The prices payable for the products that you order are clearly set out on the relevant part of the Compare the Coffin site. If in the unlikely event that we have mistakenly underpriced or overpriced an item, we will not be liable to supply that item to you at the stated price, provided that we notify you before we dispatch the item concerned. In those circumstances, we will notify you of the correct price so you can decide whether or not you wish to order the item at that price. If you decide not to order the item, we will give you a full refund on any amount already paid for that item in accordance with our refund policy in section 9 below.

All prices are expressed inclusive of VAT payable unless otherwise stated. The price of an item does not include the delivery charge, which will be displayed separately in the checkout area of the Compare the Coffin site.

3. Availability

We try to ensure that we always stock the full product range. If for any reason beyond our reasonable control we are unable to supply a particular item or we consider the item is not suitable for your needs, we will notify you as soon as possible. In such circumstances, we will offer you a suitable alternative. If this is not suitable to your needs we will ensure that you are not charged for that item.

4. Payment and Acceptance

Your payment will be confirmed at the time you place your order. After this time you can amend your order as long as the order has not already been dispatched (but please see our cancellation policy in section 7 below).
Your order is an offer to buy from us. Nothing that we do or say will amount to any acceptance of that offer until we actually dispatch an item to you, at which point a contract will be made between us. At any point up until then, we may decline to supply an item to you. If we decline to supply an item to you and you have already paid for it, we will give you a full refund of any amount already paid for that item in accordance with our refund policy in section 9 below. Where items are dispatched separately, our acceptance of the order in respect of each item takes place when that item is dispatched.

5. Delivery

Please note we only deliver to addresses within the UK. If delivery is required outside the UK please contact us and we can make special arrangements.

Unless otherwise specified, your Coffin will be dispatched to the Funeral Director you have selected from the options provided. We will email the Funeral Director and you to let you know that your order has been dispatched.

Delivery of all other products will be made to the address provided by you when making an order.

Ownership of an item will pass to you when we dispatch the item. When an item has been dispatched, risk of damage to or loss of the item passes to you. Note: we cover items for damage during the delivery process. Please contact us as soon as possible in the unlikely event of any errors or damage to the products.

We will do our best to deliver your items within 24 hours (subject to availability). Whilst we make every effort to deliver your items within this time, in the unlikely event that we fail to provide this service, we shall not be liable if we fail to do so if due to circumstances beyond our control.

N.B. Our suppliers have been operating this service for many years and have excellent and reliable standards.

6. Cancellation of Order

You have the right to cancel your order up to 14 working days after the day following the delivery of an item by calling our Customer Service department (Click Here).
If the item(s) have not been dispatched we will cancel the order and we will refund payment in accordance with our refund policy in section 9 below. If the item(s) have been dispatched to you and we are unable to stop the delivery, you can refuse to sign for the delivery so that the item(s) are returned to us and we will refund you in accordance with our refund policy in section 8 below. Alternatively, if you have already taken delivery of the item(s) please follow the procedure for returns in section 8 below.

7. Returns Instructions

We hope that you will be happy with your purchase but should you wish to return an item we aim to make the returns process as simple as possible.
If you change your mind within 14 days of receipt, we are happy to refund or exchange the item provided it is returned as sold with all components intact. Please contact us (Click Here) to obtain a return number. Note this on a copy of the confirmation email you received when you placed your order and enclose these with the item(s) you want to return.

If any of the items are damaged, please contact us (Click Here) to obtain a return number. Please note this, the nature of the damage and your order number and enclose these with the item(s) you wish to return.

8. Refund Policy

If you are entitled to a refund (see above) we will refund you on the payment card you used to pay for the order. We will be unable to refund the delivery charge.
Refunds for products purchased under any promotional offer will be based on the terms of the promotional price paid.

9. Payment

You can pay by MasterCard, Visa credit cards, Maestro cards, Visa Delta cards or Solo cards. We do not currently accept any other forms of payment, including Electron, American Express, cheque or postal order.
Your credit/debit card details will be encrypted to minimize the possibility of unauthorized access or disclosure. Authority for payment must be given at the time of order. You will not be charged for items until they are dispatched.
Please ensure that the expiry date of your payment card is after the anticipated dispatch date of your order. Payment is taken at the point of dispatch for Products and in the event that the payment card has expired we will be unable to take payment and fulfil your order.

10. Our Responsibility to You

If we are in breach of these Product Terms & Conditions, we will only be responsible for any losses that you suffer as a result to the extent that they are a foreseeable consequence to both of us at the time you make the relevant order. Our products are for personal use only and our liability shall not, in any event, include business losses such as lost data, lost profits or business interruption.

This section 11 shall not limit or affect our liability resulting from any products sold being found to be unsafe or if something we do negligently cause death or personal injury.

Our liability to you in connection with any order will not exceed the total price charged for the items.

11. General

You may not transfer any of your rights under these Product Terms & Conditions to any other person. We may transfer our rights under these Product Terms & Conditions to another business where we reasonably believe your rights will not be affected.

If you breach these Product Terms & Conditions and we choose to ignore this, we will still be entitled to use our rights and remedies at a later date or in any other situation where you breach these Product Terms & Conditions.

We shall not be responsible for any breach of these Product Terms & Conditions caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Except as expressly set out in these Product Terms & Conditions, all use of your personal information will be made in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

When ordering from the Compare the Coffin site we accept orders only from Web browsers that permit communication through Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, for example, 3.0 version or higher of Explorer and versions 3.02 or higher of Netscape. This means you cannot inadvertently place an order through an unsecured connection.

These Product Terms & Conditions are subject to English law. We will try to solve any disagreements quickly and efficiently. If you are not happy with the way we deal with any disagreement and you want to take court proceedings, you must do so in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
